About this event

Animal IQ Initiative conducted an eco-adventure and field experience at Hell’s Gate National Park, where participants engaged in cycling and guided wildlife exploration within a natural conservation area.

The experience allowed participants to cycle alongside free-roaming wildlife such as hyenas, zebras, giraffes, and antelopes, creating a direct and memorable connection with nature. Through guided learning, participants gained deeper understanding of ecosystem balance, wildlife behavior, and the importance of protecting natural habitats.

The activity emphasized conservation through experience, showing how outdoor engagement helps build respect, awareness, and appreciation for wildlife and protected ecosystems.

Summary

So this was our experience in the Hell's Gate Safari;🥳
We ditched the car and took on Hell’s Gate the best way possible,on bikes, riding alongside wildlife for nearly 10km. But the real thrill? Knowing that at any moment, a hyena could be stalking us from the bushes. That added just the right amount of adrenaline to keep us peddling 😅

We made it to the gorge, and let me tell you, the water there was so hot, we joked about taking a shower in it. Turns out, that’s just part of the geothermal wonders of the place👌 Speaking of which, we also saw the Olkaria geothermal power plants, Kenya's one of the best producer🥳

We got to see the iconic Fischer’s Tower, that kinda looks like a womans face and is believed to be a frozen beautiful woman, and it's called Fischers tower coz a white man called Fischer was stoned to death coz of loittering near the frozen woman🥲

We got to see the exact spot where Rafiki lifted Simba after birth in The Lion King. And just a short distance away, we stood where Scar betrayed Mufasa, sending him to his death😪 What’s eerie is that the spot where Scar killed Mufasa is actually one of the most dangerous parts of the park. Years ago, a devastating flash flood swept through the gorge, just like in the movie, claiming lives in the same sudden, unforgiving way💔

We also got to meet some unexpected friends😅the rock hyraxes. These tiny, capybara-like creatures were cute but bold. One even let me touch it, heeee 😂though it almost bit me in the process.
